This owl softie pincushion was created from a pattern in an old copy of a Women’s Weekly craft book. I became frustrated when the pins I take out and put on the table when I’m sewing all end up rolling onto the floor.
Because I made this pattern quite small I actually hand sewed the entire owl. He’s filled with poly beads which makes it easy to stick pins in. You could use wheat, sawdust or sand – although sand might make your beads blunt. I think there’s something you can get which actually sharpens your pins – pumice!
I’ve provided a free link to the original pattern which can be printed any size you want – depending on the number of pins you have to accommodate or whether you’d rather make a soft toy.
