So, a few weeks ago I asked my beloved to go forth and supervise the purchasing of a Goldfish to put in the tank vacated by our Christmas Hermit Crabs. Sadly, each of our crabs, except one, died after moulting. The last crab went to live with another family who had three crabs already - they prefer to live in groups so I felt mean keeping him (her?) on his own.
Anyway, Guy duly set out with our oldest son to procure said goldfish and returned with $300 worth of tropical fish, pumps, lights, tanks, bubblers, plants, etc and so forth.
We have now successfully done away with 4 Angel fish (my favourites), 4 Neon Tetras, 1 Guppy, a Rummy Nosed Tetra, and a bristle-nosed catfish.
However, we have also successfully bred our first group of Guppies. We didn't even twig that all our Guppies were pregnant until a few days ago and now we have fry!
I expect we'll see more of these over the next few days as we have three females and one very annoying horny male.
I'm considering asking for my own kitschy purple pebbled, neon planted tropical tank for my birthday to have another go with the angel fish.
